Café au Play at Tabor Commons:
Coffeehouse Design
Opsis Architecture and GreenWorks have worked with community members to create concepts for two future redevelopment phases for the Tabor Common site. Phase I will transform the original structure into the Café au Play coffeehouse / community center, replace the asphalt with innovative, sustainable landscape features and add a public terrace. Phase II will add a large community building on the eastern portion of the site to accommodate meetings, classes, events, conferences, receptions and more.
In Phase I, a stormwater feature, designed by Bureau of Environmental Services and Josh Lightpipe of KPFF Engineering, will capture stormwater from SE 57th Avenue and run it through the southeast corner of Tabor Commons and through a planter along the front sidewalk. BES has provided funding to implement this design.
Charlotte Krayenbuhl of CGK Interiors has developed the interior design for the coffeehouse, with valuable input from Peter Emerson of Bipartisan café.
The images below represent the current building and site designs. Enjoy!
